GMI has come out with strategies that will differentiate it from the market.  The label is committed to producing variety of genres to create diversity and to be a trend setter in the music market. We are also having collaborations between old and new artistes that will generate a blend between the old and new generation thereby creating excitement to our consumers. We also believe in developing the capacity of our artistes; therefore, we have training models in place that will empower our artistes and make them hallmark of excellence in today’s competitive world.

We care about the future of our artistes. We are therefore committed to ensuring that they continue to earn money even when they are not recording or performing. Even when they are dead, their creative works will continue to fetch income for their dependents. GMI will not only focus on producing music but also serve as an advocacy and policy think tank so as to improve the music industry in Ghana and Africa. This will help generate the needed relevance, respect and legacy of GMI as an influencer and a change arm of the music industry.

The global recorded music revenue for 2019 was 20.2 billion dollars. This made it a five-year succession of growth for the music industry. Africa music also has an estimated potential of 19.9 billion dollars but is under-utilized. According to a KPMG Report on the Ghana music sector in 2012, the industry contributes about GH₵ 150 million to the GDP of Ghana. Some individual estimates it currently at GH₵190 million contribution to GDP.  GMI will depart from CD production and make music in digital format as it is now the new normal. We shall sign up our artistes to streaming services like audiomack, Boomplay, Spotify and other streaming services. Music

is appreciated by all categories of people so far as it is of standard quality. We are using the mass target approach. We have segmented this market into three areas, namely,  new life (0-35 years), old life (36 years and above) and corporate organisations. We shall therefore use advertising and publicity channels of marketing to promote and sell our works. Our identified sources of revenue are streaming, consultancy, digital downloads, synchronisation revenue, live band, performance rights, commercial jingles and merchandising.

GMI has identified three major competitors in Africa. There is Gallo Records in South Africa. The others are Chocolate City and Mavin Records from Nigeria. Our strategy to match up with these major competitors is to produce and promote more Afrobeat songs, create an Afro beat artiste, engage in corporate social responsibilities, and have an array of talented song writers on demand. We are also going to have GMI representatives in countries like Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya so as to promote GMI interests in these countries. We are also implementing a rigorous social media strategy that will ensure consistent engagement with our listeners. We also have in place a functional website that is designed to make navigation a pleasurable and aesthetic experience for visitors.

AnchorThe Goodies Music Story

Goodies Music was set up in 2000 and made strong waves during the golden era of Hip Life in Ghana. Goodies Music produced and managed such artistes as VIP, Mzbel, Sydney, Tic Tac, Abibifo, Tinko and Lord Kenya. Goodies Music is also noted for promoting Hip Life genre to the Nigerian audience. Tic Tac Mzbel and VIP are household names in Nigeria due to the networking and promotional efforts of Goodies Music. Goodies managed the interest of Tony Tetuila, and 2face Idibia (now 2Baba) in Ghana. The Label has also worked with Freddy Meiway of Cote d’ivoire. After the civil war in Liberia, Goodies Music produced and managed the Traditional Queen of Liberia and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Julie Endee in 2007.

Goodies Music went on a hiatus and is back under a new name, Goodies Music International (GMI). Goodies music international is owned by Group of experts headed by Isaac Abeidu-Aidoo as the president. They have appreciable years of experience working with some of the leading international music production companies in the United States of America and Africa prior to starting their own music production house.

The rebirth of GMI is a consolidation of a good working relationship with some international record labels such as Reymond Entertainment (Holland), Base Management (United Kingdom), Alordia Promotion (United Kingdom), Kennis Music (Nigeria). The re-emergence of GMI is also as a result of other working relationships brokered recently with some more reputable international record labels.

Goodies Music International now has its head office in Belgium, even though it is also well-grounded in Ghana, it is legally registered as a bona fide Record Label in Belgium. “Our goal is to attain global recognition and international market appeal for our artiste and our music. Thus, the intellectual properties of our artiste would be released and potentially registered not only in Ghana but in Belgium as well,” says Isaac Abeidu-Aidoo in an explanation to its strategic positioning. This will offer the Recording Label opportunity to get registered and connected to world renowned and authoritative Music royalty collection societies such as SABAM in Belgium which jointly administer and protect mechanical and performing rights with other effective organisations like GEMA (Germany), SACEM (France) and JASRAC (Japan) .”

With this new consolidation, Goodies Music International  currently boast of new state-of-the-art recording studios in Ghana, Belgium and in the United States of America (USA). This essentially means that all of GMI’s productions would initially be programmed and recorded in Ghana, but will finally go through different stages of mixing and mastering in Belgium or in the USA with the state-of-the-art facilities in these countries.

GMI’s core business will be to leverage on its international connections to provide specialized artiste management services that will include: Sound recordings and music videos, marketing, promotion and distribution, organizing events and arranging local and international concerts. GMI’s other operational areas covers gigs and tours for artistes under its label, coordinating partnerships and collaborations with influential International Artistes and Record Labels and conducting talent scouting and development of new artiste.

Goodies is not all about business, it took corporate social responsibility as seriously as its artistes’ management. In 2001, Goodies Music, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Ghana, organised a ‘30-DAY NATION WIDE HIV/AIDS AWARENESS CONCERT’. The concert was a successful one and featured Shasha Marley, VIP, Sidney, Tinko, A Plus, Araz, Lyrical 419, among others. By 2003 Goodies had become a well-known brand that was chalking awards such as the Youth Excellence Awards as the Best Youth Organizer. During the occasion of the 3rd Annual Ghana Music Awards organised in the United Kingdom in 2005, Goodies Music won the Best Record Label award ahead of other nominees.
